Chem-Dry vs. Steam Cleaning

Sahara Chem-Dry vs. Steam Cleaning

Sahara Chem-Dry is the premier carpet cleaning company in Las Vegas as well as North Las Vegas, Henderson, and the surrounding area. We like to think that greater Las Vegas counts on us because we strive to deliver world-class cleaning service every time we enter a home or business. But we know that we often get the call simply because Chem-Dry carpet cleaning technology is so effective.

How Chem-Dry Carpet Cleaning Works

Everything starts with The Natural® – Chem-Dry's proprietary carbonating carpet cleaner that plies away dirt and grime without relying on detergents or chemicals. We apply The Natural using a low-pressure spray machine, covering your carpet with millions of tiny, carbonated bubbles. The bubbles releases dirt and grime deep the fibers of your carpet; then they lift dirt to the carpet’s surface where it can easily be extracted.

Removing dirt from your carpets is important, but it isn’t everything: The amount of moisture that’s used – and left behind – is important, too. That’s because the longer it takes your carpet to dry, the greater the chance that mold and mildew will form. Our application process requires a minimal amount of moisture, so the carpets we clean are dry in only 1 to 2 hours; with such fast dry times, there is almost no chance that we’ll create mold or mildew.

The Difference Between Chem-Dry and Steam Cleaning

Relative to Chem-Dry, steam carpet cleaners require a lot more moisture. Steam cleaners apply a lot of hot, soapy water, and then extract it back. While this process does clean your carpets, it has several drawbacks: Steam cleaning leaves moisture in the base of your carpet, which provides an opportunity for mold and bacteria to grow.  Steam cleaning also leaves a residue that collects dirt, and requires more frequent cleanings.

Here’s a point-by-point look at the differences between Chem-Dry and steam carpet cleaners:

Chem-Dry

  • Employs a power head
  • Carbonating, active cleaning solution
  • Neutral pH cleaning solution
  • Resists re-soiling
  • Low water quantity
  • Low pressure application
  • Shorter drying time
  • Green solutions and cleaning method

Steam Cleaning

  • Employs a steam head
  • Flat, inactive cleaning solution
  • High pH cleaning solution
  • Encourages re-soiling
  • High water quantity
  • High-pressure application
  • Longer drying times
  • Employs harsh chemicals

We think that when you compare steam cleaning to Chem-Dry, you’ll agree: We provide a healthier and more effective carpet cleaning experience.
